Learn the cultural and ecological story of the black ash tree and its role in our environment.

Work alongside Indigenous artists to weave a black ash basket from start to finish.

Create and take home a handmade basket while gaining hands-on skills and appreciation for traditional artistry.

In this program, participants will join Indigenous artists to learn the cultural significance of the black ash tree and its connection to the environment. Together, they will explore the challenges this tree faces today and discover how traditional practices honor and preserve its legacy. Guided step by step, each participant will weave their own black ash basket, experiencing the process from the very first strand to the final shape. By the end of the session, everyone will take home a beautifully handcrafted basket and a deeper appreciation for both the artistry and the story behind it.

Adults to meet Ratio, this is not a drop-off event.
