Girl Scouts will:
-Challenge themselves on the real rock cliffs of Devil's Lake.
-Practice creative problem solving while cheering on your fellow Girl Scouts
-Connect with nature in a supportive learning environment
-Learn the basics of climbing safety systems and how to conduct routine safety checks
Devils Lake Climbing Guides' team of certified instructors will set up anchors and ropes, provide harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes for anyone who needs them, and provide instruction as needed on belaying, climbing technique, knots, technical topics, Leave No Trace, and more.
Up to one parent chaperone may join per climber/family to watch, but must sign a waiver, wear a climbing helmet (DLCG can provide), comply with instructor guidance, and be physically capable of hiking up steep, uneven rockstep trails for 20+ minutes. Please indicate if a parent plans to attend upon enrollment. (No surprises! we want to ensure we don't overcrowd the climbing area, and need folks to know what kind of terrain they're expected to navigate).
Prerequisites: No prior climbing experience needed!
