Welcome to Badgerland Influencers, formerly known as MediaGIRLS!

Our first cohort launched the end of 2024 and we hope to offer another cohort later on in 2025! This program invites all Girl Scouts—from Juniors to Ambassadors—and even Volunteers to dive into the exciting world of content creation. Learn essential skills like photography, social media management, video editing, and advocacy. Whether you love capturing the perfect shot, telling stories through videos, or sharing your Girl Scout experiences, this program equips you with the tools and platform to do just that.

This updated and improved program gives Girl Scouts the independence to prepare, practice, and produce content just like a real influencer. You’ll get to explore different aspects of modern media on your own schedule while growing your skills and confidence.

MediaGIRLS vs Badgerland Influencers: What's New?

MediaGIRLS was an application based cohort of Girl Scouts who were required to attend meetings and workshops to earn the patch. MediaGIRLS also had a focus in traditional media—including TV, radio, and podcasting.

Badgerland Influencers is modeled after our popular monthly patch challenges. With a guided list of activities, Girl Scouts will embark on a journey to become content creators. This new program focuses on modern media, including social media, photography, and video editing, while still offering opportunities to be featured in traditional media outlets like TV or radio, if desired.

As a Badgerland Influencer, you'll take charge of:

Crafting your Girl Scout story and sharing it with the community
Honing your photography and video skills
Speaking confidently in front of a camera
Creating meaningful content
Seeking out stories to tell from your Girl Scout experience
Connecting with other Girl Scouts
Getting a taste of what it’s like to be an influencer
Having fun and learning along the way!

These activities are self-led, allowing you to explore at your own pace. But don't worry—our Marketing team is here to provide support and guidance whenever you need it.

Grow Your Influencer Status!

After completing the Badgerland Influencers patch challenge, you can earn “influencer hearts” to add to your patch each time content you submit is featured by Badgerland’s Marketing team.

To increase your chances of being featured, consider these tips:

Tell Girl Scout-centric stories
Share testimonials about your Girl Scout experience
Spotlight badge-earning moments or community service
Submit high-quality photos and videos, especially those showing Girl Scouts in uniform!
Include your troop number, community, age, and Girl Scout level

Content could be featured in LOTS of places, including:

What is the Girl Scout Influencer Patch?
The Marketing and Communications team at Badgerland has created the Girl Scout Influencer Patch, which Girl Scouts across Badgerland can earn by completing the monthly patch challenge. After finishing the initial challenge, Girl Scouts can continue to earn “influencer hearts” by submitting content to Badgerland for review and potential feature.

How do I submit my story?

Do I need to collect media release for photos and videos I take?
It’s best practice to collect media releases to accompany any photos or videos you share with council. While media release forms are not required for Girl Scout members (as they agree to a media release during membership registration), it’s a good idea to collect them for non-member adults and minors appearing in your media. Forms to use: Adult Media Release and Minor Media Release

How do I increase my chances of being featured?
Here are a few tips:

Include photos or videos with your submission (make sure you have verbal permission from anyone featured in your content).
Show what you were doing, where, when, and why you chose to do it.
Take Action projects and community events tend to do well!

Who receives the patch and hearts?
The Girl Scout Influencer Patch is open to Junior-Ambassador Girl Scouts and Volunteers. You can only earn the patch once, but you can continue earning hearts each time your content is featured by Badgerland.

Can I buy the patch?
No, the patch is a special thank-you from the Marketing and Communications team for contributing to the Girl Scout Movement.

I sent photos or videos to Badgerland's Customer Care and/or Marketing team, and they were posted on social media. Do I get the patch?
Influencer patch and hearts are awarded only to Girl Scouts who have already earned the Influencer Patch and submitted their content through the official Influencers Content Submission Form. However, please continue sharing your troop's photos and videos with us—we love showcasing all the amazing things Badgerland Girl Scouts are doing!

I was interviewed by the local news and featured in a story. Do I get the patch?
No, the influencer patch is earned for Girl Scout-led and created content only.

How to submit a story

Key Information & Guidelines

Eligibility to Submit:

You must have earned your Girl Scout Influencer Patch before submitting content for the Influencer Hearts program.

Earning Influencer Hearts:

If your content is selected and featured by Badgerland, you will earn an Influencer Heart. Our team will stay in touch with you throughout the process and let you know if and when your content will be featured. The Influencer Heart will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days after your content has been featured.

Submission Response Time:

Please allow 3-5 business days to receive an initial response from the Badgerland Marketing Team. We appreciate your patience!

Permissions & Content Usage:

By submitting content, you grant the Badgerland Council permission to use, share, and publish your content across any of our platforms (social media, website, printed materials, etc.).
Badgerland reserves the right to make edits or alterations to your content if necessary to meet branding or formatting requirements.

Content Quality & Guidelines:

All submitted content must reflect the spirit of the Girl Scouts—focusing on community, leadership, service, and positivity. Content that does not align with these values may not be eligible for the Influencer Hearts program.
Ensure that all participants shown in your content have provided consent (if minors who are not Girl Scouts, ensure you have received verbal permission from parents/guardians). It is your responsibility to secure these permissions before submitting content.
Safety first! All content should reflect activities that are safe, age-appropriate, and conducted in accordance with Girl Scout safety guidelines.

Follow-Up and Edits:

The Badgerland Marketing Team may ask follow-up questions or request clarifications or edits to your submission to ensure the best quality.

Sharing on Social Media:

You are encouraged to share your content on your personal social media as well! Don't wait for Badgerland to feature your work—spread the power of Girl Scouts and inspire your community with your posts.

Submission Limits:

There is no limit on how many pieces of content you can submit, but keep in mind that content is reviewed individually. Each submission will go through the full review process.
