Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland is pleased to announce Lisa Smith as the next Chief Executive Officer. She succeeds Marci Henderson who retired after 12 years of service.
Lisa comes to Badgerland Girl Scouts with over 25 years of non-profit executive leadership experience. And, she’s a Girl Scout through and through! Most recently, Lisa was the Chief Experience Officer for Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana. Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana she oversaw all member-facing experiences including camp, cookies, and volunteer opportunities. Prior to launching a career in Girl Scouts, Lisa was Executive Director of Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana for ten years and Vice President of Operations with United Way of Allen County (Indiana). Lisa is an accomplished college instructor teaching courses in Organizational Management, Strategic Planning and other business-centric topics.
“I look forward to furthering the Girl Scout mission and expanding our reach to ensure that every girl in Badgerland has access to the transformative opportunities we provide, said Lisa. “I am driven by the belief that investing in the development of girls today will shape a brighter and more equitable future for the generations to come. This is a pivotal time for Badgerland Girl Scouts, and I welcome the opportunity to inspire and lead us into the future.”
Lisa’s appointment comes after an extensive national search to find the right leader for Badgerland. “Lisa impressed us with her strategic mindset and proven track record of creating successful change through collaboration and relationship building,” said Jeni Hallatt, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Under Lisa’s leadership, our council is well-positioned to become even more dynamic and more accessible to all girls who deserve to reap the benefits of being a Girl Scout.”
Lisa joins Badgerland Girl Scouts in July. She will be among the five Badgerland representatives to the Girl Scouts of the USA National Council Session. Based in Madison, Lisa will host meetings over the next several months to learn from Badgerland members and share her vision for our future. Announcements of those meetings will be made soon.
